RM Bridge Cast Help

Interactive Edit tab

In RM Cast it is possible to manually create a cast file with this dialogue which will be then used for casting. If you are using RM Bridge, please open the cast file generated by RM Bridge.

SettingDescription
Filename Name of the cast file. It is possible to import already generated .cast file and read data from it by using button Import. Please note that due to floating point precision, some values can be changed (this is due repeated saving and loading when rotation is not 0) therefore please double-check.
Project Name of project, information only.
Bridge Name of bridge, information only.
Info1, Info2 Addition information about project/bridge
SettingDescription
Casting set Name of casting set. It is possible to have only 1 casting set through this dialog.
Rivet offset Bolt offset (distance of rivet from edge).
Elevation Height of casting device.

It is expected that cast will contain exactly 4 rivets in specific setup. One in the center, one to the left of center, one to the right and one at the bottom (bottom one will not be measured).

SettingDescription
Centerline Name of central rivet.
Rivet 1 Name of left rivet.
Rivet 1 Name of right rivet.
Bottom Name of bottom rivet.

In the table below it is possible to enter the actual values about nodes, camber and rivets. It is designed to work together with Excel file. You can export actual values from your custom cast format to Excel, copy them from there and paste directly into this table.

SettingDescription
Seg/Node Node number.
Node X, Y, Z Node coordinates. Central rivet is referenced to this node.
Camber DX, DY, DZ, RX, RY, RZ Camber values - offset and rotation.
Distance(L) Position of the left rivet related to central rivet (including sign)
Distance(R) Position of the right rivet related to central rivet (including sign)
Height(B): Position of the bottom rivet related to central rivet.
Rotation Rotation of the whole segment in degrees (sign will define the direction).
Cross section Name of the cross section which can be defined in the right part of the dialog. Please note that this is not necessary for calculation, it is just for visual.

It is possible to add, copy and delete lines by pressing appropriate icons.

For cross section you can import MIDAS cross section file (by entering the file name in upper right edit box and pressing appropriate icon) or edit them manually.

SettingDescription
Cross section Name of cross section. It is possible to have duplicate names and all of these sections will be used at once when referenced (for example when cross section has inner part, it is possible to define outer and inner part separately, name them with the same name and use them as one).
X, Y 2D-coordinates of the cross section. It is possible to paste them from Excel file or edit them manually, row by row. 0,0 point is where the central rivet is positioned.
SettingDescription
Create Button to generate .cast file. Created file will not be loaded automatically, you have to open it afterward.
